Welcome to the Mackenzie High School Alumni Association

Recently, after acknowledging that there was not an active MHS Alumni Association, a group of former students came together to have a re-connect, share their fondness for Mackenzie High School and a deep commitment to seeing the school continue to be a beacon of hope and possibilities for its current and future students. Thus, our association was born.

The members of M.H.S.A.A would like to wish you and your family a happy and productive 2011.  We want to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our efforts to assist the students and staff of M.H.S ...... As we would like to work as a team with the Mackenzie High School Administration, the M.H.S.A.A has planned an on-site one day seminar with the school’s administration and our representative in Guyana.

MACKENZIE High School emerged winner at the final round of the 2010 National Tobacco and Alcohol Debating Competition, held Wednesday at the National Library in Georgetown. The winning team from Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice) was pitted against Abram Zuil Secondary from Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), proposing the moot ‘Direct and Indirect Advertising and Sponsorship by Tobacco Companies have an effect on the Public’.

(MHS) has once again proven its standing in Linden with the top ten students in this year’s Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) Exams while the Wismar Christianburg Secondary School has recorded significant improvement. The local education department will be working on  a programme to improve performances in other secondary schools. Region 10 has generally shown improvement this year in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) when compared to previous years. This year the region recorded 321 grade ones, 951 grade twos, 1,114 grade threes and 649 grade fours, a performance which  Regional Education Officer Claude Johnson says has much more room for improvement.
