Award and Scholarship Program

Among other things, Our main objective suggested while discussing the formation of our Alumni Association is to aid in the development of current and future students both academically and physically. We will offer a number of scholarships for various streams and interest. Academics will be our focus while giving some attention to The Arts and Sports.
Our History is quite rich with success stories attain through hard work and tremendous efforts.
In each of our intake, there were memorable moments and people who might not have be given the attention others commanded, but perform remarkably and did command the attention of those who matters, your classmates.
When scholarships become available, you'll be able to register and apply online. We will notify you on the availability. Please use form below to apply for available awards.
Our Endeavour will provide continued rewards for excellent performance. Our intention is to provide a opportunity for children of all ethnicity and backgrounds to go further than just a high school education. With funding we intend to sponsor eligible students to go on to University of Guyana or University of The West Indies. Our only requirement is sustained attendance. Disbursements will be considered at the time of acceptance into our scholarship programs.
Athletic scholarships will also be available. Scholarships will not be considered unless a B average is maintained. We'll be applying for sponsorship from colleges in the West Indies, United States South America and the United Kingdom.
The Arts will not be outdone. We encourage the growth of artistic abilities by providing funding and medium for excellence. Drama and elocution will be re-introduce into the school. Aspiring actors/actresses, poets, writers, photography, screen work, painters and all genre of arts will be explored.
Students whose parents are members of the Alumni Association will be given first preference.

MHSAA Launches Award Program

In October 2008, MHSAA launched the “Dr. Gary Stephens” Science Award. The purpose of this award is to encourage and promote advanced studies in the fields of Science and/or Medicine. Dr. Gary Stephens, himself an alumni of MHS, practices in the State of New York and has performed the first successful open heart surgery in Guyana. Dr. Gary Stephens has donated the initial amount of US$5,000.00 and has pledged similar amounts annually. The “Dr. Gary Stephens” Science Award will be administered by the MHSAA and will be awarded to one or two students annually. To be eligible for the award the Student/s must demonstrate exceptional ability in the field of Science and intend to pursue advance studies in this field at a post Secondary Institution. Performance at the CSEC examination will be the index of ability. We hope that Dr. Gary Stephens’s philanthropic gesture will serve as a precedent for other alumni even as it reinforces our belief in selfless giving. We are encouraged to keep giving of our time and resources to provide much needed assistance to the students and the staff of Mackenzie High.
