President's Message
The Executive Board of MHSAA would like to take this opportunity to wish our fellow alumni, supporters and friends a prosperous and progressive 2011.
Our organization which is a registered 501(c) non- profit organization in the state of New York in the USA has been in existence since 2007 and is proud to be giving back to our alma mater MHS.
We will continue to aggressively pursue our mission of supporting our alma mater in order to maximize the potential of the present students.
The exemplary performance of the students of MHS at the CAPE and CSEC examinations in 2010 assures us that our efforts are being rewarded. Congratulations to the students and teachers for their hard and dedicated work in making 2010 an academically successful year. We are proud of you.
Thank to all who supported our cause by making contributions, giving moral support and advice.
A special thanks to Dr. Gary Stephens for his annual donation of $5000.00 US dollars. This donation goes towards the scholarship fund for the best performing Science students at the Caribbean Examination.
We also say thanks to the Haynes foundation for their donation of school supplies to M.H.S and other Linden schools. Thanks also to Patrick Haynes who maintains our website.
Thanks also to Mr. Gibbs for the donation of chairs and office equipment which is on its way to MHS.
MHSAA hosted three fund raising activities during the year 2010, a dinner and dance, a Caribana event and a Christmas party with the PKKMAA of which we recorded moderate success.
As we set goals for 2011 our priority is improving our membership through a membership drive.
We urge all alumni and friend to support us by signing on to our website at www.mhsoldstudents.org and pledge your support by paying membership fees, donating to a scholarship fund of your choice, sponsoring a child or any other area that you have an interest in supporting. Our kids in Guyana need us. They need to know that they have a support system to ensure success in their high school education.
This year MHS celebrates its 65th anniversary and we hope to hold an awareness seminar in April with representatives of the school and Board members (an IRS requirement). We believe this will allow both the Administrators and Board Members of the school and Board Members of M.H.S.A.A to work as a team to help the children of M.H.S.
Thanks to all the board members of the MHSAA who worked unselfishly throughout 2010 in helping us to achieve our goals for the year.
May God bless you.
